You assume the couples around you are never lonely.

But even in the best relationships, there is a part of us that is still dissatisfied.

There is a part of us that hungers for a more complete and unconditional love.

Is it possible that our hearts hunger for more because we were actually created to experience that perfect love?

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 7

Perfect love

Doesn’t that verse describe the kind of love that would put an end to our loneliness? Can you or anyone you know put their name in place of the word “love” and have it be completely true?

The Bible tells us that God is love.

God’s name is the only one for which these statements are true.

Only his love is able to completely heal our loneliness.

The things keeping us from experiencing God’s perfect love are the same things that make it impossible for our names to replace “love” in those verses.

Yet in his perfect love, God has made a way for your relationship with him to be restored.

Finding the answer

Even people in the most intimate of human relationships are lonely at times. So that cannot be the ultimate answer to the problem of loneliness.

Maybe this is the perfect time for you to discover God’s promise that he will never leave you – that you never have to face life on your own.
